Who makes this lamp. Every shade is hand-built in our own workshop. We are an independent studio, not affiliated with the Noguchi Museum.

Every lamp is made in our own workshop in Sichuan, in small batches — hand-laid washi over split bamboo ribs. Each one is checked for frame fit, shade integrity and socket safety before it ships.

One-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Send photos and we will repair, replace or refund — whichever you prefer.

This design echoes the rounded, bulbous lantern forms used in modern Tokyo interiors—including notable installations such as those in Tokyo’s K5 Hotel on Nihonbashi Central Street—where the sculptural shape helps soften architectural lines and create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Crafted from premium Washi paper made in Gifu Prefecture, Japan—a region celebrated for its centuries-old papermaking tradition., honoring a legacy of craftsmanship. Prized for its exceptional translucent fiber structure, this authentic material naturally balances organic tactile richness with long-lasting structural strength.

The Warm Off-White Glow: Unlike stark, bleached synthetic lighting, our Washi paper features a natural, soft off-white tone. Its delicate plant fibers gently diffuse harsh light into a soothing, golden-hour ambient glow.

True artisanal lighting demands patience. Unlike mass-produced paper lanterns, every panel of our Washi paper is meticulously hand-trimmed before assembly. Ultra-Small Top Opening,High-Difficulty Hand Craftsmanship

Shaping the paper around such a small top opening requires high skill, patience, and hours of delicate hand-stretching. Each shade is carefully worked by hand to prevent tearing or wrinkling—a precise step that low-cost factories skip. This difficult process gives the lamp a clean, seamless top profile that looks far more refined and elegant than standard paper lamps with wide openings.
