What the shade actually does to the light
A bare bulb is a point: bright at the centre, dark at the edges, and you can see it from anywhere in the room. A washi shade turns that point into a surface. The paper is thin enough to pass light and thick enough to scatter it, so what reaches the room is an even field rather than a hotspot.
The practical consequences are simple: no glare at eye level, no hard shadow under the shade, and a colour cast that stays warm because the paper is warm. The lamp ships with a 5W warm LED on an E26 socket — enough to read by at a metre, not enough to light a whole room on its own.
If you need a room lit for tasks, this is not that lamp. If you need the corner to stop being a dark rectangle, it is.
