## AKARI 1X Table Lamp — Revival of a Discontinued Icon

The AKARI 1X is one of the most coveted silhouettes in Isamu Noguchi's iconic 1951 light sculpture series. Now officially discontinued and nearly impossible to acquire from standard stockists, we have faithfully revived this compact masterpiece for design enthusiasts worldwide.

Standing at a refined 19cm x 19cm x 38cm, the 1X features a beautifully proportioned architectural frame supported by sleek black tripod legs. Its petite footprint makes it an ideal sculptural statement for nightstands, executive desks, or accent shelving.

### Choose Your Craftsmanship Edition

To honor both modern functionality and historic authenticity, we offer the Akari 1X in two meticulously hand-crafted framework editions:

Classic Edition ($125): Engineered for everyday durability and shape retention. Features an ultra-strong internal nylon winding framework, delivering the exact same iconic exterior silhouette and warm ambient glow.
* Mastercraft Edition ($175) — Museum Specification: Built for purists and collectors. Recreates the exact archival craft of the original 1X—every fine split bamboo rib is individually hand-bound to the next using delicate white thread at each joint, showcasing unparalleled human craftsmanship.

### Authentic Japanese Washi Paper Heritage

Crafted from premium Washi paper made in Gifu Prefecture, Japan—a region celebrated for its centuries-old papermaking tradition. We partner with a distinguished paper maker trusted by the world’s most esteemed paper lamp artisans, honoring a legacy of excellence. Prized for its translucent fiber structure, this authentic material naturally balances organic tactile richness with lasting structural strength.

The Warm Off-White Glow: Unlike stark, bleached synthetic lighting, our Washi paper features a natural, soft off-white tone. Its delicate plant fibers gently diffuse harsh glare into a soothing, golden-hour ambient glow.

Light as an art form

More than just a paper lamp. Our Akari style floor lamp transforms your space into a room that finally feels warm and right.

Authentic Japanese Washi Paper Shade

Each lampshade Paper is handcrafted using traditional Japanese washi paper from Mino, Japan—a region world-famous for centuries of master papermaking. Sourced from a historic paper maker crafting since 1956, this is the exact same paper trusted by legendary Noguchi Akari lamp artisans. Its natural off-white tone softens the light into a warm, gentle glow rather than a cold white, bringing quiet wabi-sabi beauty and Japandi style to your home.

Mastercraft Edition (Hand-Tied Bamboo)

Created for design lovers and collectors, this museum-quality edition recreates the iconic Noguchi Akari frame using natural Sichuan bamboo—sourced from the home of pandas, famous for its bamboo heritage. Every thin bamboo rib is tied by hand with fine white thread at every joint. This classic technique brings out authentic wabi-sabi detail, making your Japanese paper floor lamp a true work of art.

Value Edition ( Natural Bamboo )

Built from natural bamboo, this edition uses invisible connectors at every joint for a clean, seamless look. Over time, the bamboo changes color, growing warmer and richer—just like red wine aged in oak barrels. It brings iconic Akari style and Japandi warmth into your home at an amazing value.

Authentic Bamboo Ribs & Traditional Cotton Binding

Natural bamboo ribs carry a soft luster that grows richer and warmer over time. Perfect for square lampshades, bamboo stays much stiffer and straighter than steel or nylon wire, offering great value for anyone seeking the classic original look. To join the bamboo ribs, we use natural cotton thread binding—a historic method of extending bamboo ribs that became widely recognized through the finished creations of Japan’s historic Ozeki Workshop. The subtle shadows created by these hand-tied joints are a signature mark of traditional craftsmanship, designed for purists strictly seeking original specifications.
